Is Pizza A Healthier Breakfast Option Than Cereal? Yes, And It’s Not Even Close.

Every year, many Americans  make New Year’s resolutions. For many of us, at the top of that list is losing weight. People are always concerned with how much they weigh and most of the time want to live a healthier lifestyle. But then news like this comes out, and no one understands what living a healthy lifestyle even means anymore. According to the latest scientific research, pizza may be a healthier breakfast food than cereal.

That’s right, a dish many would consider their “cheat meal” is actually more nutritious than most breakfast cereals. It actually has plenty of the macronutrients needed in order to live a pretty damn good healthy lifestyle. It’s got protein, carbs (carbs are not bad, people), and you may have even thrown some veggies on that ‘za.

Compare that to cereal…

Most cereal contains little to no protein, no healthy fats, and a metric butt-ton of sugar. They contain very little nutrition, while stuffing your face with tooth-rotting sugars.

Even doctors are hopping on board the “pizza for breakfast” train.

“You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories,” explained Chelsey Amer, MS, RDN, CDN, “However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning.”

Before you switch to an all-pizza diet, just know that this is only a comparison. Pizza is better than most cereals, but it’s certainly not a go-to meal for healthy living. It sure would be nice, though…
