If you’re the kind of person who hears reports of quirky Japanese exclusive food and drink items, and feels a pang of regret at not being able to enjoy any of these delicious treats, you might want to back away from this article slowly.

After all, the idea of a sakura cherry blossom flavored Starbucks Frappuccino that’s topped with pink rice cracker pieces is about as amazingly Japanese as you can get, and about as likely to make it to the West as an uncensored Anime.

In celebration of the approaching start of spring, and in reflection of Japan’s beautiful cherry blossoms which will rain down upon street corners across the country, Starbucks has unveiled two delicious sakura flavored drinks.

The Sakura Blossom Cream Frappuccino with Crispy Swirl is the drink of choice for anyone who wants a cool and tasty frozen cherry blossom drink, while for those who think the weather still needs to warm up a little more, the Sakura Blossom Cream Latte is a better bet.

Both drinks come topped with pink rice cracker wafer crumbs, which work nicely with the cherry blossom theme, and as a special seasonal extra, both come in Spring themed Starbucks cups which also bear the appearance of cherry blossoms.

Just in case this wasn’t enough, coasters in Starbucks across Japan feature a QR code for a wonderful sakura-themed Instagram filter, meaning that the Sakura Snap hashtag is filled with wonderful photos of customers enjoying these new drinks.

So while these deliciously Japanese drinks won’t be heading our way in the near future, at least we have the opportunity to gaze in wonder at what we’re missing.
