There’s no denying that Tinder dates can get a little weird. From creepers who don’t look anything like their photos to figuring out that super hot guy (or girl) is a total nutcase, conjuring up ways to make an early exit from an evening with a complete stranger can get kind of awkward!
Thanks to a kick-ass bar in England, patrons who choose to grab a drink at The Brickyard in St. Alban’s now have a safe and easy exit strategy for all of those Tinder dates gone awry. “Doesn’t look like his picture, or just plain weird?” a sign posted inside the women’s bathroom of the establishment reads. “If you’re on a date and it’s not going well, come to the bar and ask for Rachelle or Jennifer and we’ll get you out of it and/or get you a taxi.”
The genius game plan went viral after a snapshot of the sign was posted on Imgur. Now with over 500,000 “likes,” the photo has captured the attention of half a million people—with many hoping other bars and restaurants will implement similar policy.
“Your safety and happiness is our highest priority. If anyone is bothering you or making you feel uncomfortable please tell us. We will discreetly move them away, and if necessary ask them to leave,” the sign promises its female patrons.
Overwhelmed with the response, management at The Brickyard are pleased their sign has been well received by so many people. “A sign that was designed purely for the safety of our female customers has caught the eyes of thousands (all genders!) and you have all touched our hearts with your support, so thank you for this.”
And because we know women aren’t the only ones getting trolled on Tinder, The Brickyard says they now have plans in place to launch a similar safety campaign for men.
