What Makes This Deep-Dish Pizza The Most British Pizza Ever?

By

Pizza is a favorite food of many people. It’s readily available just about everywhere and each town has its own spin on it. Of course there is New York style, and there is Chicago style, but now more and more cities are coming up with their own special blends of pizza, and it’s getting pretty awesome and/or ridiculous depending on how you look at it. For example, U.K. supermarket Morrisons just launched a Yorkshire Pudding Pizza, in case you wanted to know how the Brits would do pizza.

The reason for the rollout of the pizza made with Yorkshire pudding – Yorkshire pudding is more like a dinner roll than anything Americans think of as “pudding” – is because Feb. 3 is Yorkshire Pudding Day. So it perfect timing to release a Yorkshire pudding pizza on that very special day.

The cheese/batter fusion combines the classic Yorkshire pudding base – made in Doncaster in South Yorkshire – with a filling of tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. So much freakin’ cheese.

Jenny Dixon, the resident Yorkshire pudding expert at Morrisons had this to say about the product, “Everyone loves Yorkshire Pudding and everyone loves Pizza, so we are combining the two to create the ultimate comfort food for Yorkshire Pudding Day.  The crust is made the same way as a typical Yorkshire Pudding and is topped the same way as one of our pizzas. We’re looking forward to hearing what customers think but we hope that they’ll love it!

So what do you think? Would you give this cheesy goodness a try?
