Movie Moments That Ruined the Books They’re Based On
There are so many movies that ruined the books they’re based on. “The book was better!” readers everywhere cry. But just because they’re annoying doesn’t mean they’re wrong.
Sometimes movies ruin everything that’s good about the source material. And it can happen in small details or huge changes. So here are the best examples of movies that ruined great books.

Lord of the Flies is a 1954 novel by Nobel Prize-winning English author William Golding. The book focuses on a group of British boys stranded on an uninhabited island and their disastrous attempt to govern themselves.

The 1991 movie adaptation seems more about a group of boys going feral. In a book ruining moment, the boys talk about how much they miss “Alf.” Spoiler alert: That reference doesn’t age well.
Romeo and Juliet

If you don’t know the plot of Romeo and Juliet, stop reading this right now and read Shakespeare’s classic tale of young, star-crossed lovers.
Twist Ending

Pretty great, huh? How about that ending? Now don’t bother watching the ’96 movie version. Because in that version, Juliet wakes up early and they have a final moment together. Boo! It’s called a tragedy for a reason, people.
