Man Finds His Stolen Dog at the Shelter, Days Before He Was Scheduled to Be Euthanized
A person losing their pet must be devastating. Just thinking that their dog or cat are out there, alone and afraid on the streets, probably in grave danger.
That is exactly how Barry Gearhart felt when his pit bull named Titan was stolen from his truck. The pooch he raised for eight years just disappeared.
The man ran an errand and left Titan in the car. As he returned, the dog wasn’t there. A security guard told him a man came by and took the dog away.
Barry couldn’t believe his eyes, but he didn’t waste time and started searching for his friend.
More than a year later, someone asks him on Facebook if Titan looks like a stray at a shelter…
20. A Tragedy
Barry Gearhart is a fitness instructor at a gym in West Palm Beach, Florida. This man might look tough, but Titan is his soft spot. However, the man never thought that they would be separated for more than a year!
He and his dog were best friends, and he was heart-broken when he heard that someone stole Titan.
Little did he know that they would be reunited more than a year later…
19. A Horrified Owner
Any pet owner would be horrified to know that their pet was stolen. Titan was eight years old when he disappeared. He was waiting in the truck for Barry – he’s done it before. However, that day, Barry would return to a deserted car.
He couldn’t understand what happened, he had no explanation for it.
Then, a security guard told him someone took the dog away. Here’s what he said in an interview with Florida’s WPBF news.
18. It Was Quiet
“The worst day of my life had occurred. I looked in the truck. It was empty. It was quiet,” recalled Barry in the interview. He knew that Titan was stolen, but couldn’t understand who would do this or why.
The man blamed himself for a year, thinking that if he took the pooch with him, they’d still be together…
One thing was true, he was not going to give up on his dog…
17. Have You Seen This Dog?
The desperate owner started searching for Titan. He posted online ads, used social media and fliers to ask around about his dog.
The thought that if he didn’t left Titan in the truck crippled the man, but continued to hope that he would find his beloved pet.
Others lost hope, telling Barry that it was impossible to find the dog if it was stolen. But the man didn’t lose hope!
