Owning a pet is a huge responsibility, and the expenses certainly don’t end after the purchase of a new pet. Other expenses such as food, housing, grooming, vet visits, and training also need to be taken into account.
But some people don’t seem to mind the added monthly expenses that come with owning a rare and unique animal. If you wouldn’t hesitate to spend a small fortune on the purchase and care of an exotic pet, then read on.
Sugar Glider

Sugar gliders are tiny marsupials with adorably huge eyes. Similar to a flying squirrel, they are able to glide through the air. They are curious, intelligent, and affectionate creatures who love being close to their humans.
A sugar glider costs between $250 and $500 to adopt. They can be purchases from a local breeder, however, it is very important to make sure that owning one is legal in your area.
Silver Fox

The majestic silver fox is actually a red fox with melanism. Some specimens are almost completely black, while others range in coloration from light to dark grey.
You can get a permit to own a silver fox if it has been bred and raised in a specialized center, but owning one that was caught in the wild is illegal. The permit will cost around $650-$850.
Although silver foxes have been domesticated, they are still wild animals that cannot be confined inside.
Bobcat

Bobcats can make surprisingly excellent pets and are even considered to be the easiest big cat to start with if you’re interested in owning and caring for exotic felines.
In the wild, bobcats are aloof and aggressive hunters, but their domesticated counterparts can be highly affectionate and will even accept other pets in the household.
Bear in mind that It’s not legal to own a bobcat in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Vermont, and Virginia.
Outside these states, you can get a license to own a bobcat for around $900.
Crocodile

In Australia, more than a hundred residents are permitted to own pet crocodiles. However, it is illegal to own a crocodile in California and many other states in the U.
S. You’ll need several permits to import or export a crocodile from the Northern Territory or if you want to acquire one from the wild.
While you can buy a pet crocodile for $1,100 or less, be aware that you should only consider owning this huge reptile if you have the experience and the space to keep one.
