The policeman froze in shock when he spotted her dad marching into the room. He had just responded to a local complaint. He instructed the child to close her lemonade stand and then alerted the city council.

He didn’t think it would escalate to this point. But he would soon find himself in a sticky situation – one that could endanger his entire career.

A Good Person

Janice Polder, a bright and vibrant ten-year-old, just wanted to be a useful and helpful member of her community. She was dedicated to being a good person, and she was famous in the neighborhood for her nature.

It had begun when she was seven. Ever since, the little girl had become an integral part of the community. But why had she become so beloved?

A Caring Little Girl

The starting point was her first day of elementary school. Though her family was well-off, Janice was not insensitive or uncaring to others.

She realized that other children in her class didn’t live as comfortably. She noticed some of her classmates weren’t able to purchase all the necessities required to attend school or succeed academically. This was something that bothered Janice.

Thoughtfulness

That first evening, she spoke to her mother about it, revealing that she wanted to help her classmates out so they had everything they needed. Her daughter’s good heart and thoughtfulness touched Mrs. Polder, who agreed to help her out.

But she wasn’t willing to let her daughter just give her own necessities away. So, she voiced the idea that Janice do something to raise money, which she could use for the items she wanted to donate.

Summertime Social Work

Consequently, Janice made the decision to set up a lemonade stand. She set it up in the summertime, encouraging the whole neighborhood to come buy a drink.

If anybody enquired as to what she was up to, she informed them that their money would go towards school supplies for children who couldn’t buy their own for the upcoming school year.
