A List Of Friendships That Went Too Far

I had this one amazing friend. We shared a lot of similar interests and she was a good shoulder to cry on. It was easy for me to do anything and everything for her, because I knew she would do the same for me.

However, the more I look back on this friendship, the more I realize that things weren’t as they seemed.

She used me to pay for her food and outings and to do her work for her. She’s never even thanked me! We no longer have contact as she blocked me on all social media platforms.

My friend used to make me feel good when I drove him around. He sweet-talked me with stuff like “You’re the best driver I know!” and “I don’t trust anyone to drive me around but you.” His compliments made me feel very nice, but eventually, I started to see past them and realized that I was basically his chauffeur.

He never offered to help me out with gas, and he only wanted to see me if he had somewhere to go. So, one day, I picked him up and dropped him off at the bus stop.

Looking Better Than Her

When I found out that my friend got engaged, I was so excited! She deserved nothing but good things happening to her. Wedding planning is always tough, so I tried my best to help her where I can.

I stayed up late for nights in a row helping her make invitations and I helped her with the floral arrangements. So, when she fought with me over my bridesmaid’s dress, I was horrified.

She rudely informed me that the dress made me look ‘sexier’ than her. She also told me that I have to wear a thick jacket, in the middle of summer, or I should stay seated during the ceremony. I opted for the third choice, the one where I stayed home.

Blaming Everyone

I had one friend who always seemed to attract some sort of drama. I always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but when asked what happened, he would tell a different story each time, or he made himself out as the victim.

One Friday night, we decided to go to a bar and, you guessed it, we got into a situation.

My friend made me out to be the bad guy in the story and blamed everything on me. People have been warning me for years of his behavior, and I am glad I experienced it because now I know I don’t want somebody like him in my life. I stopped speaking to him that evening.

Stealing Her Spotlight

When I found out I was pregnant, I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait to share the news with all my friends. I invited them all over for brunch, and when I shared the news everybody wanted to celebrate with me! Everyone, but my best friend.

She began arguing with me over baby names and it just seemed like she was upset because I was in the spotlight for once.

That day, I realized that my best friend only wanted to be friends with me because I allowed all the focus to be on her at all times. She did not even care about the amazing thing that happened to me, because it did not involve her. I am glad she is out of my life.
