Awkward Jokes That Were Met With Silence

People all over Twitter have decided to share their stories in a viral trend. They’ve revealed moments when a joke didn’t quite cut it and was met with silence.

The irony is that the hilarity is in the jokes themselves that don’t land. They can range from cringy to just downright unfunny. But here are the worlds most awkward and unfunniest jokes!

Elevator Ride

I rode in an elevator with five people once. But a sixth person ran to the elevator to try and catch it. No one tried holding the elevator for her.

I decided to just say “Good, I never liked her.” I smiled and assumed I’d get at least one laugh. Well, there was complete silence for 9 floors. I’m never trying that again.

Labor

I was in the hospital to deliver my child and I was feeling a little off due to the meds. But I remember lots of doctors and nurses huddled around me, so I decided to say, “I bet you’re wandering why I’ve gathered all of you here.”

But to my surprise, barely a chuckle came out of one of the doctors. I still remember that moment to that day and wish they had laughed.

Twelve Friends

I was a waitress at a local pub and I remember one day there was a table for 12. I made a joke, “12 friends, I don’t even know 12 people.”

The entire table was silent and someone must have told their mom that was a friend of my mom. My mom told me that I shouldn’t make jokes when they weren’t funny.

Before Surgery

A couple of years back I had to go into surgery for some health problems. While the doctor was prepping for the surgery and he asked me if I had any children.

Now bear in mind that I am a woman. I replied, “Not that I know of.” I really thought that I would at least get a smile out of him. But there was just a blank stare back.
