Calm People Pushed Too Far
You can push even the kindest of people to their breaking point. The following list contains things that can make even the calmest and most reserved individual lose it, and who can blame them?
We had selected a number of anecdotes that illustrate how nice people finally snapped when their values were threatened.
Teaching Him A Lesson
My grandfather was a decent guy. He was well-known, and everybody loved him. My cousin and I usually spent our afternoons helping him out, and he asked us to go with him to the store. There were a lot of poorer families in my town, and we spotted one of them in the store.
My cousin then made a remark regarding their financial situation and questioned why they were even in the store in the first place.
My grandfather, who was one of the nicest people I know, then pushed him against a wall and said, “Nothing in your life elevates you above them.
I’d rather have them with me right now than you.” He forced my cousin to go and apologize to the family, and he told them that my cousin would pay for their groceries. That cousin went on to become an excellent social worker with a focus on poverty and rehabilitation.
A Five Minute Breakdown
I used to work in a warehouse, and my manager was the calmest guy in the world. One morning there was a bit of chaos as there was something wrong with the ordering system. He calmly walked out back, started a forklift, and slammed it into a big stack of shipping pallets at full speed.
As soon as he was done, he sighed deeply and walked into the warehouse. He didn’t even look at us and resumed his work, almost as if nothing had happened.
Standing Up For Others
I used to work at a grocery store, and my manager was a very chilled guy. He rarely lost his temper, in fact, I can only recall it happening once. One of my coworkers, Bill, was busy stocking shelves.
Now, Bill was in a wheelchair, and some large man began arguing with poor Bill and tried to push him out of his wheelchair.
I saw it all happening and made my way toward them so that I could help Bill out. My boss appeared out of nowhere and tackled the dude. He held him down for twenty minutes, refusing to let go until the cops came.
Breaking Point
We had minimal time for rehearsals at one of our tour venues. It was too much for the director two months into the rehearsal process when this woman kept making backhanded comments.
Her speech was interrupted by the director, who screamed, “THE SHOW IS NOT ABOUT YOU!” He dumped the script on the ground, and the pages flew everywhere.
We hadn’t heard him rant or swear in rage before. The woman cried and bolted from the stage. “Can we get back to work, please?” he asked quietly. Afterward, during an intermission, I heard him telling her that he would tell everyone in the industry he knew not to employ or associate with her.
