Steven and Sandra Banner had known and loved each other for more than four decades. Whenever they would think about how long they’d known each other, they would laugh at how long they had tolerated each other.
Steven and Sandra were approaching their fiftieth anniversary, and they were just as in love as they were on their first wedding anniversary. Steve looked over at his wife, and her expression broke his heart.
Growing Old
Steve remembered the day he met her as if it were yesterday. She was energetic and charming and so beautiful. He knew from the moment their eyes first locked that she was his soulmate.
As he rested his eyes upon her, it was clear that she had aged. She no longer had the youthful exuberance she once had, but he did not mind. However, he was troubled by something else.
She Was Aging Faster
Sandra and Steve had a beautiful life together; they shared five beautiful kids with more than a dozen grandchildren. They were content with all that they had in life.
Steve always believed that he would be the first to pass, as he was three years older than her.
Sandra, on the other hand, seemed to get fatigued faster, was having trouble walking, and had suddenly gotten a lot more disoriented. Steve was concerned that his wife was aging faster than he was.
The Phonecall
When Steve heard Sandra’s phone ring, he thought it was one of their children checking up on her. They frequently called to see if everything was okay. Their youngest, Brandon, was the one who called the most.
After a few moments of listening at the other end of the line, Steve noticed Sandra’s eyes widen with surprise and her countenance darken. It was obvious that something was wrong.
