Cop Forced To Pay By Expecting Waitress
A Sense Of Unease
Courtney let out a deep breath as she wiped her forehead with her arm. The work didn’t usually bother her, but today, it was too much for her to handle. Being in her third trimester, she had grown huge, and today, of all days, it was taking more of a toll than it usually did.
Her back and feet were aching far more than they usually did as she approached the empty table where the strange ‘cop’ was sitting a little while ago.
A Terrible Feeling
She started clearing the table and looked over at the leather folder that housed the bill. She picked it up and opened it to see that everything was in order. That was when she saw what was really inside it.
A terrible feeling instantly settled in the pit of her stomach. At that exact moment, she knew nothing would ever be the same again. There was no turning back anymore.
Tough Times
Courtney Cadigan was well known at Lamp Post diner, where she worked as a server. She wasn’t just outgoing, bubbly, and incredibly friendly, but she was also a diligent worker. She worked hard and picked up all shifts she could get.
Those were only some of the reasons she was well-known among the regular patrons, who adored her.
But recently, something happened in her life that would change everything.
Mom-To-Be
Courtney was eight months pregnant at the time, but she continued to work for as long as she possibly could.
That was because she knew that it was vital for her as a mother to be to save up as much money as possible. The extra funds could help her through the period that was to come. But Courtney had no idea what this day had in store for her.
Long-Standing Relationships
Courtney had already been working at the diner for seven years, and she knew her regulars well. She couldn’t only recite their orders by heart, but she would also spend time chatting with them and catching up on the latest news while she moved between her tables.
That wasn’t all, though. Over the years, some of the regulars built a closer relationship with her. To them, Courtney was more than just a server. She was something else entirely.
