She didn’t tell him why she wasn’t going to serve him. Baker was getting impatient now. He was in line for 45 minutes, and now she was telling him she couldn’t serve him.

He wasn’t used to people declining him. He could tell she didn’t know who he was. He was ready to see the look on her face when she finally figured it out…

Day-Off

Karl Baker was so very ready for his day off after working 12-hour shifts back to back. Nothing could take it away from him, and he would sit back and enjoy the time off.

He would sleep in, eat out, and get some fresh air outdoors. Then before the end of his day off, he would relax with some TV and a drink. But things wouldn’t go quite as he had wanted them to.

Sleep-In

Baker’s day started with his dog jumping on his bed. He got up and dressed, made his daily coffee, and wondered what he would do next. He needed to find a place that could give him a good brunch.

After making his decision, he got in his car and drove to a place he’d heard good things about. Little did he know he’d later regret this decision.

Waiting In-Line

They all gave him looks. No one had treated him like this in a long time. In his job, people usually gave him the respect he deserved.

He went inside the diner and stood in line. He could hear his stomach growling as his hunger grew. The minutes passed by.

Fussy Eater

Having time to look at the menu, he decided that he would order one of two dishes. His family and friends all knew he was a picky eater.

He had put time and effort into finding this restaurant. It had the things that he actually wanted to eat. But after waiting in line for 45 minutes, his patience grew thin.
