Countries Where American Visitors Are Not Welcome

American tourists have gotten a bad reputation in many countries across the world for being brash, rude and arrogant. Even though not all Americans are guilty for these things, they have lead to negative receptions from these countries.

Some countries dislike American visitors because of their attitudes and behaviors, but in many countries, history has dictated many people’s perspectives.

Whether due to political disputes from decades before or current beliefs, some countries just dislike the American government’s decisions.

“Mamma Mia” probably wouldn’t look the same if it depicted how native Greeks actually feel about American visitors. This dislike stems back to a Civil War in Greece in the 1940s that the American government involved themselves in.

Americans who like to exclaim “we’re number one” aren’t always seen in a good light when traveling abroad.

As one Denmark native explained, “They feel better than the rest of the world, but in reality we are as good as they are.”

Even Germany’s leader, Chancellor Angela Merkel have expressed distaste towards American points of view.

She once told a class of Harvard students that they needed to tear down their “walls of ignorance and narrow-mindedness.”
