Crazy Things Americans Have Seen In Europe

The world is filled with a variety of different cultures. Europe is one of them! So many tourists visit the country and come home with souvenirs and a lot of exciting stories.

Being an American in a European country takes a lot of adjusting. People drive on the left side of the road, using the metric system! There must be some other interesting differences as well.

Squeaky Clean

When I was in Spain, every single night, around 3 a.m, I would hear loud noises. It turns out it was street scrubbers and vacuum mobiles cleaning up the city!

Every single night like clockwork, hundreds of people came to clean the city. Then, the next morning, Salamanca would be spotless. It was a very beautiful experience.

No Speed Limits

In Italy, there is almost no limit to how much space should be given between a speeding car and any barriers it passes (including people).

A bus driver will maneuver a bus down a small cobblestone street at a rapid speed, leaving only a centimeter between the bus and any parked automobiles, walls, ancient monuments, or children playing.

Red Phone Booths

What I found interesting was the red phone booths in England. It’s not like I didn’t know they existed, but where I am from, I mostly saw them in movies. It was actually astounding how common they were.

What was even more surprising was that a lot of them had been repurposed into other things! I saw some that were transformed into an ATM and another that had a defibrillator.

Doing Things Differently

Some crazed teenagers were seen leaping from windows and landing in the snow. Even though there was a lot of it stacked up where they were landing, I wouldn’t do something like that.

It was literally three stories down! As they seem to know what they’re doing, I would prefer not to interfere myself. This still makes me sleepless.
