Crazy X-Ray Pics (And The Shocking Stories Behind Them)

X-ray technology is a marvelous invention that allows doctors to take a peek inside our bodies. And it’s still the best way to see what’s wrong with us when we’re sick or injured.

But on rare occasions, X-rays have revealed some weird and unusual things lodged inside a patient’s body. And, boy, do we mean weird. We’re talking about things as tiny as rings to things as dangerous as hand grenades.

Two school boys in China were practicing their archery when one of the friends shot a 16-inch arrow right through the eye socket of 11-year-old Liu Cheong. The back of the skull was the only thing that stopped the arrow.

Fortunately, the boy was rushed to Hida Hospital in eastern China and survived the ordeal.

I’ll Be Colon You Back

Just 35 miles southeast of the capital of El Salvador is the maximum-security prison in Zacatecoluca, where one prisoner was found to have been hiding a cell phone inside his colon.

When they investigated further, they discovered that three other prisoners were in the same predicament. We hope that call was worth it.

You Got Nailed

Usually, getting nailed is a good thing, but not in Patrick Lawler’s case. The Colorado man found out that his toothache was not related to a cavity or an infection. But it was the dentist who was shocked when he looked at the x-ray and found this nail passing through the roof of his mouth and ran straight up to his brain.

Australian patient Pat Skinner had returned to the hospital 18 months after the 69-year-old woman had parts of her colon taken out at Sydney’s St. George Hospital in May of 2001. What doctors found in her stomach were a pair of scissors that had been accidentally left inside of her abdomen.
