Dad Fed Up With Cold Showers Digs Up Backyard
He was tired and sweat was dripping down his face. He had been digging for more than six hours at this point and he had absolutely nothing to show for it. The was almost completely set and his backyard was covered in bright red dirt.
He breathed loudly as he wiped the sweat from his brow, digging further into the soil. He placed his right foot on the shovel’s step and pressed down on it forcing it deeper into the earth. That was when he heard a solid sound and passed in place. He had made the discovery of a lifetime.
Leaving Brooklyn
Harry Parker’s only goal was to live a quiet life once he had moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born and raised in New York City and had spent way too much time in noisy Brooklyn. He’d always wanted to leave the busy city. When he was thirty-five years old, his dream finally came true.
His company had decided to open a branch in Honolulu and they wanted him to spearhead the project. He thought it would be a simple project, but soon, he and his wife, Tracy, were moving to Hawaii. He had no idea what mystery was awaiting him.
New Life
Honolulu was nothing like anything Harry had grown accustomed to in New York. The days were bright and sunny and the nights were quiet with millions of stars. He never really saw many stars in New York.
Harry was doing well at work. Tracy worked from home as a managing editor of a web writing company. The couple was enjoying their new life, but there was an issue that was threatening to cast a dark shadow over their new life.
There Was A Problem
Everything was perfect for them in Honolulu, but one thing was ruining their experience. The piped water in their shower never seemed to heat up, even after an electrician assured them that everything was in perfect working condition.
But that wasn’t all. The water was also a tinged red, just like the soil outside. Harry tried everything to solve this. He called plumbers in to look at the problem but they informed him that the problem wasn’t with the house.
He was on the verge of giving up when Tracy pointed something out that he had been overlooking all this time.
Tracy’s Logic
“The yard,” Tracy said nonchalantly, gesturing at the green lawn baking in the sunlight. “The water has soil in it, so maybe the pipes beyond the house are the issue.
I say we start with the yard.”
Harry nodded at her, seeing the sense in her logic. The plumbers said that the problem wasn’t with the house, which meant that it was beyond their home. He had no idea what was waiting for him outside the house.
