Divers Searching For WWII Wreckage Stumble Upon An Artifact That Has Scientists Scrambling
Searching
Finnish divers were looking off the Baltic Sea for the wreck of a WWII vessel. But instead of finding that ship. They found something else entirely.
The Fluyt
The divers unexpectedly stumbled across a Dutch Fluyt from the 17th century. It was a wooden boat with the sole purpose to trade goods. After the spice explosion these boats were used more than ever.
The Old World
The Fluyt filled the role our modern freight ships do today. So this archaeological find is an important one. Especially considering that the boat was found nearly completely in tact.
