What Was It Doing?

Why was it here? Dimitra didn’t know what to think while she watched the animal huddle in a den of gravel underneath a tombstone. She didn’t know why, but she knew she had to help.

Hundreds of thoughts ran through her mind: maybe this was the dog’s previous owner’s grave? Maybe it didn’t know where else to go. What Dimitra would find out was much more frightening than she could have ever imagined.

Passion For Walking

Dimitra was always bored of her small town so naturally, she loved to walk around, taking in the fresh air. Dimitra could spend hours on end walking by the town’s edge, between the cemetery and the nearby wood.

But on a walk like any other, she’d stumble on something that would have her questioning everything. She had never encountered anything like this.

Clearing Her Head

With the stress of work always breaking her down, her one thing in life that seemed to melt away her troubles was her long walks. They’d clear her head and make her think of happy thoughts.

So when Dimitra took a walk one morning that she really needed, she had no idea how it would end.

Regular Sunday

Dimitra knew that she would have to work hard tomorrow since it was Sunday.  She got up from her chair after eating breakfast and walked out her front door. As she left she noticed a news report on her TV.

What she caught a glance of made her stomach flip.

Someone Missing

The news report said that a woman had gone missing just a town over. She disappeared three days ago and her family was a wreck. Dimitra was an empathetic person and felt awful for the family. She couldn’t imagine losing a family member like that.

But Dimitra didn’t know what would happen in a few short hours.
