Double Trouble! Actors’ Stunt Doubles Are Here to Confuse You
Have you seen Deadpool’s awesome moves in the movies? Well, many of the fights were CGI, as he said right before Colossus and Juggernaut started the fight: “big CGI fight coming up.” But in Deadpool’s fights, it wasn’t Ryan Reynolds under that mask!
No, it was his trusty stunt double who made it all possible.
Basically, our superheroes and villains in the movies are stunt doubles. That’s why we should learn more about them and their work. It’s also quite fun to see them and the actors side by side.
Let’s get ready for a double take when we see two Chris Hemsworth, or two Margot Robbie!
Margot Robbie and Ingrid Kleinig
Two Harley Quinn? The world will implode for sure with two dangerous and beautiful… anti-heroines? In Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie’s stunt double was Ingrid Kleinig.
The stuntwoman also worked in movies such as Mad Max: Fury Road, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Justice League.
Kleinig’s most daring stunt was to hold her breath for five minutes when she was trying to get through the Lamborghini windshield.
Gal Gadot and Alicia Vela-Bailey
Even Wonder Woman need her double! Gal Gadot’s stunt double was Alicia Vela-Bailey, who did all the jumping and fighting. At the time of filming, Gal was pregnant.
Vela-Bailey was also a stuntwoman in movies such as Avatar, Divergent and Lights Out, and many other movies.
Natalie Portman and Sarah Lane
When Natalie Portman played in Black Swan, she didn’t dance in the movie. It was the ballerina Sarah Lane, who even got mad when she heard Portman declared that she was the one dancing in the movie:
“Of the full body shots, I would say 5 percent are Natalie. All the other shots are me. The shots that are just her face with arms, those shots are definitely Natalie.
But that doesn’t show the actual dancing.”
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Tanoai Reed
The Rock’s stunt double looks very similar to him because Reed is actually his cousin! Reed has been Dwayne’s double since 2002 when the actor played in The Scorpion King.
“I’ve been a stunt double for him for about 16 years no,” said Reed. “I thought after my football years I would be healing my body up, but I think it’s taking even more of a toll.
I’m jumping off buildings, I’m getting hit by cars, I’m crashing stuff…I feel like I’m 83 sometimes,” Reed said in an interview.
