Cop Demands Grandma Buys $4,000 In Giftcards, Until Cashier Realizes It’s An Elaborate Scam

She couldn’t believe it. All of a sudden Irene’s heart sinks like a ship lost at sea. She ends the call and puts down her phone. How could her grandson do this? Thousands of questions run through her mind and she feels off balance.

As she grabs the kitchen counter to hold her up, she knew she had to do something. It was for the safety of her grandson.

Just An Ordinary Saturday Morning

Earlier in the day both grandma Irene and her husband Derek had spent the day relaxing in their garden. With the sun shining down, glistening on their freshly trimmed lawn, the couple took a sip of their freshly brewed tea.

Irene had a few errands to do, but for now, she was going to bask in the sunshine. Little did she know her world was about to get turned upside down.

Checking In On Her Mum

Irene could never really master technology. She watched in awe as her grandchildren effortlessly swiped, pinched and tapped their way through social media and apps.

So when her daughter Joanna attempted to video call her this Saturday afternoon, quickly Irene put on her glasses and attempted to press accept. Little did she know this wouldn’t be the only call she’d receive today.

Another Call Awaits

After ending the video call, Irene puts her phone down and gets up to go to the kitchen to start baking a cake. It was her neighbors 75th birthday so it was a special celebration.

Picking out the ingredients from her cupboard, suddenly her phone rings again.

Startled, she walks over to her phone. “It’s probably Joanna again,” Irene shouts to her husband who was still in the garden. But this call wasn’t from her daughter.

When A Stranger Calls

Gift Cards

“Hello?” Irene says after picking up the call. As Irene took the call, Derek walks into the kitchen, sitting at the table and skimming through his morning newspaper.

But then suddenly he sees his wife’s face turn grey as she utters the words, “Target gift cards… ok.”

Her feeble and shaking voice trembled off as the man on the phone hung up. Standing still like a waxwork at a museum, Irene bursts into tears.
