Family Moves To Remote Island, Then Find Something Incredible
They knew that it wouldn’t be easy moving to a remote island, but the Cuisniers wanted to do it. There wouldn’t be anyone else to help them. But there weren’t as ready as they thought.
They thought that going to the island would leave them humbled and enriched by the experience. But it would be different from what they imagined. Then something none of them could have expected happened.
Quéménès
An island off of the Breton coast called Quéménès hasn’t been occupied by people for decades. It’s a small island that often has stormy and treacherous weather.
The family arranged to go to the island as part of the Coastal Protection Agency’s program. They wanted the island to be repopulated and the Cuisniers thought that it would be a great experience for them.
Living In A Deserted Island
Living on a remote island can make or break someone. It takes a lot to be able to live off of the land when almost every today is reliant on modern infrastructure.
But even with all of the difficulties, it does come with some pretty sweet perks. No neighbors to annoy you, no paying rent. They could also get back to their roots and just enjoy what mother earth had to provide for them.
What Were Those?
But then reality sunk in and there were certain things that they didn’t expect. Like that they had to still pay rent! Even though they were on an island they had to pay the government monthly rent.
Now if the government provided some kind of shelter or anything else they may have been happier. But the problem was that it was nothing like they thought.
Completely Abandoned
The island was barren without any man-made objects. So they had no infrastructure of any kind. They had no running water, plumbing, or even electricity.
The family still thought that they could make it work. They wanted to change the remote island into a paradise. They thought it would be worth it and they would get better from the experience.
