Teen Hiker Thought He Was Alone, Hears Footsteps And Whispering Behind Her
She felt the regret taking over, chastising herself for choosing the Pacific Crest Trail. She should never have talked herself into starting this quest of hers.
She was in her tent, her heart hammering inside her chest as she listened to the footsteps and whispering surrounding her. As the voices grew closer, she checked her phone only to find it had no signal. What was she going to do?
World Of Possibilities
She was eighteen and had just completed high school, but Tracy Ford was another who didn’t know what she wanted to spend her life doing.
Tracy had done well in school, opening up many possibilities for her. It wasn’t easy for her to choose, and she needed time to think about a career that would provide her with what she wanted from life.
But there was one thing that she enjoyed without a doubt in her mind.
A Feeling She Loved Most
Tracy loved Hiking, especially when she was accompanied by her loyal dog, Hans. Being one-on-one with nature was the best feeling, and she loved wandering through routes that were seldom, if ever, traveled.
But there was more to Tracy’s love for hiking, and it wasn’t something she often shared with others.
The Benefits
She had spent years hiking and realized that it had helped her self-esteem better than therapy had. Nothing could compete with the benefits she found from hiking.
Her confidence grew every time she tackled a challenging or unexplored route, and she developed a newfound appreciation for herself and her capabilities for facing the wild, unknown, and potential dangers.
But she had no idea what she was about to walk into.
An Important Decision
Considering she was unsure of her next step in life – starting work or college – Tracy decided to take a free year to think about it. She felt that a long and demanding hike would get the blood flowing and help with her decision-making.
It made for the ideal time to think about her likes and dislikes, dreams, and aspirations. She needed to make the important decision alone and thought that feeling more confident about her strengths would help her do so.
But there was something she needed to tackle first.
