First Cut In Years Leaves Woman Unrecognizable
Kira took deep breaths as she waited for the announcement. It had been quite the journey. It was hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, she never thought she would be standing here.
They were all staring at her, but it felt different than usual. For the first time ever, she was enjoying the attention. Her life had changed so much in such a short amount of time. Life, along with her hair, was unrecognizable now.
Unusual Upbringing
Kira Mason had had an unusual upbringing as a shy and nervous child. As a child, her hair had grown into beautiful golden brown locks. Her father always adored her hair, but he made her feel quite uncomfortable about it.
At first, it was just a strange rule. But eventually, his obsession with long hair and his odd rules would leave her scarred, just as her father’s own childhood had scarred him.
Beauty Standard
Whenever Kira would mention wanting to cut her hair, she was told that she wasn’t allowed to. But his father’s craze with long hair was rooted in strange ideals he had been brought up with.
Allan Mason had spent his entire life believing that beauty was synonymous with long hair. In his own strange way, he believed that not allowing Kira to cut her hair was a way of expressing his love for her.
Deep Scars
When she was older, her father was taken suddenly taken from her. This meant that Kira could finally live somewhat of a normal childhood, but she missed her father greatly.
Most of the time, Allan had been a good and loving father. Kira could now live a relatively normal life. It was only in her teenage years that she realized just how deep her scars went.
Different Phases
Throughout her entire life, Kira’s subconscious issues with her hair and how it related to beauty would often resurface. It felt like it was impossible to escape. All she knew at the time was that she constantly experienced different phases.
One of them was being completely normal. But the other was the obsessive need to grow her hair or face extreme anxiety about cutting it off. But much later, she would realize that was actually a pattern to when these periods of life affected her most.
