Cat “Too Fat To Fly,” So Owner Comes Up With Genius Scheme

Mikhail felt his cheeks blush and his heartbeat through his chest. He crosses his fingers as he watches from a distance his “cat” gets weighed. Was he really about to get away with this?

Members of security, who were armed with weapons and had stern looks plastered on their faces, look over at Mikhail and he looks straight down to the floor. Was he about to get caught? Was his masterplan about to get foiled?

A Novice Flyer

Mikhail Gail was the king of flying. With over 300 flights under his belt, and fare few stamps on his passport, airports no longer freaked Mikhail out. He felt confident in his understanding of airline rules and regulations.

So when Mikhail planned to fly with his beloved cat Viktor, little did he know what this trip would have in store for him.

Journey For Two

The twosome’s journey was from Riga, Latvia, to Vladivostok, Russia, with a layover in Moscow — a nearly cross-continent journey! Things went smoothly at the Riga airport; staff checked the baggage and he received the thumbs up.

Viktor was successfully cleared as a feline passenger! The next step was security, which thankfully went fine! Everything was good!

For the duration of the flight to Moscow, Viktor was right where he was supposed to be — curled up on his Dad’s lap in the window seat. Viktor lets out a purr as the two looks outside to find the glimmering dots of light from the cities below.

Mikhail smiled to himself, but unbeknownst to him, things would soon turn that smile upside down.

Checking In Again

Despite being slightly agitated while up in the air, when back on the ground, Viktor returned back to his cheeky shelf.

As Mikhail navigated through the airport, he started to worry about how his cat would fair for their 8-hour connecting flight to Moscow.

As they checked in with a different airline, suddenly a member of staff makes her way over to Mikhail and his pet. And she didn’t look too happy.

The Wrong Weight

NY Daily News

When Viktor stepped onto the scale, the chunky cat innocently stared back at Mikhail as the number ticked up to 10kg.

This number wouldn’t really mean anything any other time but in this circumstance, a 10kg weigh-in number meant his harmless cabin buddy was now considered as an under-the-plane let cargo. And Mikhail wouldn’t stand for that.
