Homeless Man Looks Like George Clooney After Free Haircut

The barber swung his chair around, facing him toward the mirror. His eyes widened as he took in his new hairstyle. The man inside that mirror couldn’t be him.

His eyes tinged with tears, and he tried to speak, to air out his disbelief so he could know he wasn’t running insane. His lips curled, the man in the mirror smiling as well. Would this change be enough to turn his life around?

José Antonio had never pictured himself as someone who’d end up homeless on the streets one day. A skilled electrician living in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, he’d had the best future set out for himself.

But as he turned 30, his life took an unexpected turn for the worst. A terrible work accident robbed him of the ability to work, which decimated his financial situation and sent him spiraling into a deep depression. But things would go from bad to worse.

Although José’s accident was sudden, his descent into being homeless wasn’t as immediate. “It’s a long process,” he shared. “Depression sets in, making your moods irregular.

Before you know it, you’re in the streets.”

José found himself with no way to keep up with his bills. At first, he prayed the situation would be temporary. He’d even gone as far as parking cars in town squares, needing to make enough cash to keep him from the street. But that dream never saw the light of day.

Trying To Make It Work

It wasn’t long before José found himself on the streets. All the work he was doing, like parking cars, only gave him enough money for day-to-day needs like food, but never enough for a roof over his head.

He even found a job as a fixture at the Plaza España, where he continued to park cars, but it wasn’t enough.

Workers and business owners in the plaza came to love him, befriending him and even giving him the name ‘Josete.’ But one day, a man would come along who would take everything a step further.

Meeting Salva

Josete lived on the streets for twenty-five years before the man came. He’d grown accustomed to his situation, seeing other ways of living as impossible. But that day, he’d meet Salva García, the owner of La Salvajería, a salon in the plaza he hanged out in.

“When we met, I had a studio in the square where he helped park cars,” Salva shared. “I always joked with him telling him he had to cut off his mane, but he resisted.” But one day, Josete would finally agree to Salva’s request.
