She Couldn’t Shake The Feeling

While staring at the pair, Jenna kept her distance from them. Taking a look around himself suspiciously, the man stood in the back of the store. It wasn’t clear why the man’s behavior felt strange, but something felt wrong.

From the moment he walked through the doors, he had a sour expression on his face. In spite of all this, Jenna couldn’t help but stare at the old woman. With her small bucket hat covering her eyes, she hung her head low, hiding her eyes from the world.

A feeling of unease filled her stomach, and she wasn’t able to explain it. In the end, however, her heart broke when she saw the old woman’s face. There was a lot more to it than she had expected.

An Unusual Pair

They caught Jenna’s attention as soon as they walked through the door. As the man walked ahead of the much older woman, his face was twisted with anger. With her frail legs carrying her as fast as they could, she struggled to keep up.

She was initially skeptical about the pair since the man seemed hurried, but everything else seemed normal.

The Grumpy Man

When they passed her in the back, she was packing one of the shelves. In comparison to the woman with her old cane who trailed behind him, the man was far ahead. A groan escaped his lips. “Keep up,” he said under his breath.

As Jenna stared at the woman who was struggling to keep up with the younger man, she couldn’t help but frown. A small bucket hat concealed her face, preventing her from seeing the woman’s face. Her gut instincts told her something was wrong with the pair.

Watching Closely

Her seat provided a great view of the pair while she sat there watching their actions. As they walked further back, they stopped. Glaring down at the old lady, the man turned to her. As Jenna sat in the back of the room, she couldn’t hear what he was saying.

She tried once more to look at the old woman’s face, but as the man talked down to her, she lowered her head. The girl wiped at her cheeks with her shaky hand while Jenna watched. Was she sobbing?

Dropping Her Task

As of this point, Jenna had completely abandoned her task in favor of confronting the woman and the man. His harsh action made the woman jump back when he started tossing items into the basket.

Despite her inability to explain it, Jenna felt for the woman. The man seemed to have no sympathy for the old and frail woman. The story of their lives intrigued her.
