For most people, loans are necessary evils. But before one can start making payments on a loan, they have to get it…a process that isn’t exactly easy for some people, as the folks in most of our stories will tell you.

They visited banks and credit unions asking for money and got shut down for the outrageous reasons they wanted them.

Flunking Out

I work in wealth management and I had a hysterical client come in to try to take a loan from her trust fund. She was a college student about to flunk out and she wanted to buy the school to avoid it.

She also wanted to fire every single teacher because they “were plotting against her.” Her requested wasn’t accepted… thankfully.

I Need To Get Home

I had a client call my direct line once, arguing that he was denied a loan so he could buy an airplane…a 747 capable of making international flights. He called from the airport where he was snowed in from to let me have it.

It was the most bizarre call I’d ever gotten. 

Not Even Trying to be Clever

A man came into our branch one time to get. Loan to start a pharmaceutical company. There wasn’t anything too crazy about it, except that he had been previously convicted on charges involving illegal “pharmaceutical sales.” The worst part is that he wasn’t even trying to be smart about it.

I can see why he got caught. 

Polly Wants A Parrot

I work as a teller, but this man came running up to my booth saying that he desperately needed a loan.

I told him to make an appointment with one of our advisors, but he said it couldn’t wait…he needed to buy this pet parrot that was on sale for the next three hours.
