Being adopted into a good family is a blessing. Unfortunately, not every child that gets adopted is fortunate enough to have a strong bond with their parents and siblings.

There are many horror stories about parents abusing their children and sometimes even abandoning them.

Steve Lickteig got very lucky with his adoptive family. His parents loved him to bits, and his eight siblings accepted Steve as their own brother. Then, shortly after his 18th birthday, Steve’s best friends told him something he would never forget.

As it turns out, his older sister was actually his birth mother.

Growing Up In A Big Family

Steve grew up in a small town with his parents and siblings. He had a good relationship with his mother and father, although he was especially close to his older sister, Joanie Lickteig.

But as it turns out, Steve’s entire family had been keeping a dark secret from him.

Family Life

The boy and his eight siblings were raised by devout Catholic parents in a tiny farmhouse. Lickteig knew he was adopted and always felt loved by his entire family.

Close Bond

Steve was also very close to his brother Denis. The two often spent time together, went to every church event with their parents, and shared their deepest secrets with eachother.

What Steve didn’t know at the time was that everyone in his family, including his brother Denis and older sister Joanie, had been lying to him the entire time.

Lickteig lived in a small town where everyone knew eachother. It was nearly impossible to keep your private life to yourself as someone would always find out, and the next day, the whole town knew about it.
