Man Stops To Help Fawn Then Spots Something In The Woods

It felt like they had been driving through the heavily wooded area for hours. In these parts of the world, it wasn’t uncommon to have an encounter with wildlife, but he had never been in this situation before.

He faced his friend, trying to see if any of them knew what they were supposed to do next.

He assumed none of them had been in this situation before, either. But they all knew that they had to do something about it. They had to act fast.

Having A Good Time

Steve Knoop had agreed to go out with his friends that day, not knowing what he was getting himself into. They had all lived in their rural community for a long time, but they had never faced anything like this before.

They drove on a road that bordered the woods, this particular road barely ever had any traffic on it. They were all having a good time, chatting and listening to music. But then Steve slammed his foot down on the brakes.

Lump In The Road

Steve’s friends were bewildered by his action, jumping up as they scolded him for giving them a fright. But then they saw it. They spotted the small, brown lump in the road and gasped, thinking that they had found an animal that got hit by a car.

But they didn’t see any other evidence of an accident because there were no other cars around. They quickly got out of their car to investigate the scene. But things only got stranger from there.

What Was It?

As soon as they took a few steps closer, they realized what it was. It was a baby deer and it was all alone. This saddened Steve, what if it had gotten hit by a car? But as they got closer, it opened its eyes.

But something was wrong. Its legs were collapsed around its body in an odd position, it was almost like it was trying to make itself look smaller. That was when one of Steve’s friends voiced a theory.

Just Been Born

His friend theorized that maybe the deer was trying its best to camouflage itself and hide from danger. But given its size, another friend suggested that it could have been born just minutes before they got there.

They realized that it was breathing relatively normally and came to the conclusion that it was probably unharmed and healthy. But still, they didn’t want to go on their way and just leave it lying there.
