Man Stuck Alone On Ship For 4 Years
In just a few months the whole ship had gone from shouting and full of people to quiet and completely empty.
He was the only one left and it felt like a prison. But even prison would have had other people to talk to. Had he known the document caused all of this he would never have signed his freedom away.
Great Job
Mohammed Aisha was so happy when he got a job in 2017 with MV Aman.
He landed a job as a cargo ship’s chief officer. It paid well so he could give back to his family. As the ship departed his home country – Syria, he was in good spirits. But he had no idea what would happen.
Falling Apart
The first problem that would chain events of disaster together was some paperwork.
Abadiya in Egypt told them their certificates were out of date and that they couldn’t leave their port until they sorted the problem out. Then they found that all of the safety equipment was also expired!
Stranded
The ship would have to stay their docked until all the problems that they encountered were sorted out.
Then the next problem started! Aisha was notified that not only was the company having financial issues but they didn’t have enough fuel to go any further and they wouldn’t pay for more. So people up and left.
Abandon Ship
As crew members started leaving to go home it started a chain effect which led to Aisha being the only one staying.
For the cherry on the cake, Aisha was responsible for the ship because the owner was Egyptian. They gave him a document to sign, but he should never have done it.
