The Mayor of Salt Lake City – Ben McAdams, decided that he would take a more personal approach to figuring out what was going on with the homeless community in his city.

Nothing But Homeless

He dressed just like a homeless person and left his wallet at home. He found that he was basically invisible to everybody. People would ignore him.

The Truth

McAdams found out that homeless people preferred to stay out on the streets than homeless shelters because they were more like prison. They would be rampant with drug abuse and violence while the staff paid little attention.

This was to be taken with a bit of salt since it was just opinions. But he was still horrified by how they felt in general.
