Model Gets Step Closer To Winning Miss World, But When They Learn She’s A Mom She Loses Crown

It was one of the greatest days of her life when model Veronika Didusenko won the title of Miss Ukraine in 2018. However, only four days later the Miss World officials would take away her crown. The reason?

She was a mother, and according to them, that was against the rules.

Didusenko was excited to be able to represent her country at the Miss World competition which was held in the UK that year.

She managed to win the competition but it wasn’t long before the Miss Ukraine producers disqualified her before continuing to take away her title entirely.

Reasoning

The Miss World pageant will not allow a contestant who has children and/or has been married to enter the competition. The organization strictly enforces this rule and according to them, there is a reasoning behind it.

According to them, being a Miss world is too demanding to allow them to do these things.

Breaking The Rules

Didusenko admits that she signed a document om which she stated that she didn’t have any children and had never been married, despite that not being the truth. The truth is that Didusennko is a divorcée with a 5-year-old son.

However, Didusenko insists that not only are the rules discriminatory and unfair but also, as she puts it, “so archaic, so outdated, so old-fashioned.”

In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s “Newsbeat”, Didusenko said that when she entered the competition, she was aware of the rule stating that mothers are not allowed to enter the competition, but stated that the pageant organizers knew and still encouraged her.

“Why should a woman be excluded from entering just because she’s a mother? It doesn’t make any sense,” she told the BBC’s Cherry Wilson.
