When Little Girl Stops Calling Grandma She Knew Something Was Wrong
Adrenaline floors Linda’s system. It pumps and beats like it’s trying to escape. Her body wants to either run fast to her granddaughter’s house or to the cops, but instead she remains where she is.
Let’s face it, there’s not much you can do when you’re 81 years old. But why didn’t her granddaughter pick her phone? And why wasn’t her son picking up? Suddenly, a dreadful feeling hit the pit of her stomach.
She Loved Being A Grandma
For Linda Jones, there was nothing more she loved than being a grandma. She showered all seven of her grandchildren with love, affection, and gifts.
Her bond with her grandchildren was something she cherished and on days that were a struggle, Linda thought of her grandchildren. But her relationship with her son was a completely different story.
A Troubled Son
Linda’s son John, was known for his temper. After his father and Lindas’s husband sadly passed away, the devoted son Linda once knew, changed in a matter of months. The two would often come to blow about the littlest of things.
But there was one thing that Linda was grateful for that John gave her, and it was her beloved 5-year-old granddaughter Molly. But things weren’t looking so great.
Five-Year-Old Granddaughter
Molly was a curious and cute little girl who idolized her “maw-maw’ as she called Linda. The two would often spend their days together playing, baking, and laughing.
She didn’t like to say she had a favorite, but Linda knew Molly was something special. Despite Linda and John’s turbulent relationship, Linda knew that John would always take care of her granddaughter.
But she had no idea her world was about to be turned upside down.
A FaceTime Tradition
It was a tradition that every Wednesday at 5:30 pm precisely, Linda would FaceTime her granddaughter, Molly. And so, as Linda nestled in her armchair ready to speak to her granddaughter, she felt excited to see Molly’s red cheeks and cheeky smile.
But this time, Molly didn’t pick up.
