He was taken aback when he noticed the message around her neck. He gently untied it, trying to keep her calm. As he read it, tears poured easily down his cheeks. This was something he hadn’t anticipated.

A New Position

Jessie Morrison felt out of place when he moved to California. Being a native Texan, his values weren’t always suited to the city.

The senior partner role was a no-brainer for him, so when his firm offered him the position, he knew he had to accept it. It soon became apparent that the stark difference between the two cities was not the only surprise about moving to LA.

They Hit It Off

When Jessie moved to the city, Sandy Miller was employed as an ad executive. When she was outsourced to work at Jessie’s company, the two instantly connected.

They got along so well and became good friends, which ended in them dating. It was all a whirlwind of euphoria, and the pair was already talking about the next step.

The Next Step

Because neither of them had ever been married, they didn’t have any children. They moved in together, and things were moving fast. They both wanted a big family, however, it was quite a difficult decision to make as they were quite young.

They both worked long hours and they could not see how they could raise a child and still worked. They spent hours discussing the topic until Sandy found a way to compromise.

A Compromise

They had no clue if they could manage caring for a baby in addition to their careers because neither had done it before. Sandy proposed that a “trial period” could be beneficial first.

It was impossible to do this with a real baby, so she came up with a solution. Jessie was apprehensive at first but he soon became as enthralled as she was.
