She didn’t mind the obnoxiously loud children that were splashing around in the pool beside her, and she happily paid the ridiculously high prices for food and tickets to the waterpark.

But she hadn’t been in the water for all of five minutes before the rude staff approached her and singled her out. She had to make them pay.

Everything Changed

Madelyn Scheaffer from Odessa, Missouri was the perfect mother. She did the most to make sure that her family had everything they ever needed. But something unexpected happened when she was in her mid-30s, and it paved the way to a certain realization that changed her entire life.

But here she was, seven years later, and these audacious teenagers at the park were doing everything in their power to get her to undo all of her hard work. How could they?

She Got Hurt

It was in 2005 that Madelyn discovered something startling about herself, this discovery forced her to re-evaluate her entire life. She, unfortunately, suffered from a slipped disc in her back when she leaned over to run herself a bath, then, she slipped and fell into the tub.

Her body took a massive toll because of this, and one day, it just couldn’t anymore.

Getting Her Act Together

Following the accident, emergency workers rushed to the scene. Madelyn was in too much pain to be moved and requested that they leave. She would remain in the tub for three whole days.

But during this time, as she lay in the tub, a quiet calmness washed over her. She never planned this for herself. She spent so much time taking care of her family that she never took care of herself anymore. This was the sign she needed to get her act together.

“That should have been the first sign for me that I needed to lose weight, but it took me another year before I made the decision to do something,” Madelyn shared.

But now, she was 43 years old and she was being placed back into that awful space. She was beyond mortified, her heart shattered as she logged into Facebook. Tears painted her cheeks as she sobbed quietly. How could they do this to her?
