Mom Is Having A Bad Day Then Stranger Does This
Today was not Natalie’s day. She had been having a particularly horrible day with her son. She was tending to her son when she noticed the strange man on the pier, her entire body tensing up.
Strangers never really understood Rudy and his antics, and she was used to this. She had grown to expect the stares and judgment. But this strange man was about to do something that would change her entire life.
Her Baby Boy
Natalie Fernando loved her son more than anything. She thought that being a mother was the greatest joy in life. When her son, Rudy, was born, she was over the moon to welcome him into the world.
Her little boy was finally with her and he was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She loved him more than she could ever have imagined. But as he got a little bit older, she soon discovered that her little Roo was showing signs of being a little different.
Terrible Twos
It is well known that children go through demanding phases and challenges during their toddler years. We’ve all heard horrible stories about the “terrible twos” and the tantrums that come along with it.
But these difficult periods will often coincide with the developmental milestones that temper these moments with overloads of cuteness. But the problem was that Rudy’s tantrums were not accompanied by ordinary milestones like most other children. This is why Natalie was so concerned.
Presenting Challenges
All children are unique and oftentimes they develop at different rates, but usually, there are similarities between the age groups. There are periods in a child’s life where certain behaviors are expected to start subsiding.
Rudy’s tantrums weren’t easing up and Natalie knew that her young son was facing a few unique challenges. Parents are usually more forgiving of their children’s behavior, but sadly, strangers are a lot less understanding.
His Diagnosis
Not long after her worried began, Natalie learned that Rudy’s extra challenges were not a coincidence. Before she knew it, he was diagnosed with a form of autism.
Natalie was a native of Essex and she knew well that autism did not mean what many people thought it did. It just meant that Rudy was different and that he needed some special care. She would be able to help him.
