And what if you have no other choice but to leave your kid in the care of a stranger?

Back in 2003, one mother found herself in a challenging situation and had to say goodbye to her baby daughter. The woman handed her daughter over to a total stranger in a foreign airport.

She didn’t know anything about the man she trusted her daughter’s life with.

After immigrating from Sierra Leone, Zainab Sesay started her new life in Maryland. Zainab got married and built a successful career as a technical writer.

In 2003, Zainab decided her daughter had to see where her mother grew up. The first ten years of Zaynab’s life were spent on the other side of the world- Sierra Leone.
