Jeff Sessions is a very polarizing American politician. When Donald Trump appointed him to be the nation’s attorney general, it caused quite a bit of controversy. Some people think his policies and history don’t make him very suitable for the job, while others are staunchly behind the man who has held a prominent position in politics for many years. One of his more adamant positions: He doesn’t think marijuana should be legal. And to poke fun at that, there are now Jeff Sessions-inspired weed rolling papers.
A pro-weed campaign released the product online to lambast the current attorney general, and they think it’s all in good fun. Maybe they’ll even change his mind on the issue.
The website specifically states their intentions and hope that a certain someone will see their point of view. “We’re not criminals, junkies or idiots. Regular Jeffs all over the country—good, responsible, patriotic Americans—have a sesh now and then… and it’s OK!” the website reads.
A representative from the website and product launch had this to say about the issue in an email to Newsweek: “Our intent in actually making these papers is to poke a little good-natured fun at our Attorney General, who doesn’t seem to have changed his mind or read any news about cannabis since the Nixon-era. His ideas about marijuana have the potential to harm millions of Americans who use this plant safely and legally in 2018.”
Can’t help but wonder if this ploy will actually work and if Mr. Sessions will have a change of heart on the issue.
