Outrageous And Expensive Mistakes Done By Architects Around The World
We cannot deny that the world is filled by many wonderful buildings realized by architects. Being among the revered doctors and lawyers, architects are also having prestigious careers, and they must maintain a spotless and error-free portfolio if they want to be at the top of the field.
Unfortunately, like in any other field, architects make some mistakes. Here is a list of the biggest architectural mistakes in history around the world.
20. Lotus Riverside

A great complex made in Shanghai, China, was going to solve the major city housing needs. However, a mistake not only cost the architects a lot of money, but it ended being disastrous!
Eleven buildings with 13 stories were finished, but then as the underground garage was excavated, the nearby river seeped into the foundation!
19. I-35 Bridge

Modern history has never had a worse architecture when it comes to bridges. In Minneapolis, the bridge over the Mississippi River which connects the I-35 freeway and was a path 140,000 daily commuters took, collapsed on August 1, 2007.
Thirteen people died and 145 were injured during the collapse. The thin planting along the rivets could not support the weight of the traffic.
18. South China Mall

This mall would be the greatest one in the world, thought a Chinese billionaire. The architects created an impressive building that is twice the Mall of America in the US. However, there is one thing they missed out: the location!
Believe it or not, the mall was constructed three hours away from any city…
17. Leaning Tower of Pisa

This old architectural flaw turned the Tower of Pisa into a historic win, as it is one of the seven modern wonders of the world! The tower is leaning this way because its base was built on clay and made the tower sag in time.
