Firefighter That Heard Princess Diana’s Last Words Finally Breaks Silence
When French firefighter Xavier Gourmelon went to rescue the victims of a car crash inside a tunnel in Paris, neither he or his team had any idea of the personalities involved in the accident.
However, as he slowly pulled a blonde woman out of the wreckage, he saw that she was still slightly conscious.
She was mouthing something to him, her words barely audible. Gourmelon leaned closer to hear what she was trying to say.
It was only then that he realized that this was no ordinary person he was trying to save — and those words that she whispered to him might have been her very last.
The Car Crash
Gourmelon was one of the 10 firemen that rushed to the Pont d’Alma underpass to rescue the persons who were involved in a crash that involved a Mercedes-Benz W140.
The luxury vehicle’s front was completely wrecked and from the outside, they could see that one of the men looked like he had already passed away.
Assessing the situation, Gourmelon tried to see if there was anybody else in the vehicle that he could still help. He saw a blonde woman inside and she seemed to be still breathing, although very weakly.
The Rescue
The blonde female’s condition was relatively stable when Gourmelon got her out of the vehicle, so he was shocked to find out that she later died in the hospital.
While he was getting her out of the Benz, he had no clue as to who she was and was bent on simply providing the help that she needed at that crucial moment.
Later on, he was more surprised to discover that the blonde female he had rescued was Diana, the Princess of Wales. But that was not all there was to the situation.
As he was helping her out, she whispered something to the firefighter, which he decided to keep to himself for 20 years.
Diana’s Fate
Diana Spencer was not new to the ways of the royal family as she had spent most of her childhood years alongside many members of the aristocracy. She lived near the Sandringham royal estate so she saw them come and go frequently.
She wasn’t so lucky academically, though, so she later tried to make up for it by taking menial jobs in the area.
But Diana was obviously destined for bigger and grander things and later on found herself in a situation that would totally transform the way she and her family lived.
The Union
Diana had grown up to be a lovely lady albeit of simple means. It was this quiet demeanor that later caught the attention of the Prince of Wales, Charles, who was then dating her sister Sarah.
It was not long after that she eventually entered into a serious relationship with the royal.
In 1981, Diana and Charles got married via a grand ceremony that was shown on TV screens worldwide. Hundreds of millions of spectators from all parts of the globe tuned in to watch as they exchange vows in a holy ceremony.
