Rules People In Ghenghis Khan’s Army Had To Follow

Anyone who had to live in the army of the great Genghis Khan knew that it was more than just riding on horses and war.

If you lived under his rule there were actually a fair amount of rules that you had to make sure to follow. We wonder how many people could have lived with this strict ruler.

No one would be surprised to hear that anyone who wanted to join Khan’s great army had to know their way around a horse.

Each man had to travel with not one but six horses at any given time. This meant that they had extra horses for anyone who needed it so they could travel extremely quickly.

It might be interesting to know that most of the great Mongols army didn’t join the fight out of their own volition.

Most of the people in his army were conscripted to fight for the Khan. Genghis had to do this to ensure he had a large and vast empire.

There was no sexism when it came to war. Women weren’t excluded when it came to fighting.

Khan felt that women had equal rights when it came to fighting and many of them ended up either being officers, political representatives, or efficient warriors in his army.

Ghengis’ army was entirely a meritocracy.

Family didn’t mean much and people only got into higher positions by showing competence. He also liked loyalty above all else.
