Shy Baby Monkey Struggles to Make Friends Until His Owner Discovers This

Typically, young animals have a slim possibility of survival when they become separated from their parents. Fortunately, some are fortunate enough to be found by compassionate humans who are willing to assist them.

Such was the scenario with a cute baby monkey from Zimbabwe whose mother passed away, leaving him alone. Luckily, a nearby sanctuary took him in, and he discovered affection in an unlikely location.

Horace’s life started off on a bumpy road when he and his mother were crossing a street in Zimbabwe in 2015. Unfortunately, a speeding car hit his mom and she was left still on the ground. While Horace was safe, his mother was hit and left motionless on the concrete.

The beams of headlights illuminated the baby vervet as they quickly shifted to the side of the road. Those drivers weren’t being careless, but instead, they were kind individuals who had come to rescue the distressed primate. Promptly, they started to look after the animal.

They took him to the Twala Trust Animal Sanctuary, which had been established in 2011 and was well-known throughout Zimbabwe.

When his rescuers dropped the baby monkey off at the Twala Trust Animal Sanctuary, he was pretty much helpless. Knowing little beyond his mother, the little guy was timid and on edge when being handled by human workers.

In an effort to solidify him as part of the shelter’s family, they gave him the name of Horace. But that did very little in getting him settled.

While that environment can be fun for some, it was bound to be quite intimidating for baby animals, and Horace was no exception. But the baby monkey was in luck. As it would happen, a pair of kittens reached out to him.

Slowly but surely, he opened up to them — and then something astounding began to happen.
