This Soldier Was About To Leave The Building But Thinks Twice When He Sees Two People Enter

As exhausted as he was, Army Lt. Col. Robert Risdon immediately watched the two figures who had just entered through the Taco Bell door. His instincts and training were telling him that they were out of place, his body tensing and getting ready for a fight.

The training he had received as an Army Ranger was automatically taking over. He was in no mood to fight, but he would if he needed to. His eyes still locked on the two figures, waiting for their next move. When they did eventually move it was straight toward him.

Robert Risdon was on his way home from the Senior Bowl when he realized that he was hungry. It had been a long day, he hadn’t eaten yet, and he found himself craving tacos. He finally saw a Taco Bell as he drove through Greenville, Alabama and decided to pull in to get some food.

He had no way of knowing what a fateful decision that would turn out to be.

Homegrown Hero

There is a certain kind of person who is always ready to stand up and help those in need or defend the weak. These people do so without thinking or caring about the cost or receiving any praise. They set an example that the rest of us should try to follow. Robert Risdon was one of these people. He had endured many hardships in his life and seen even more during his time as an Army Ranger. He never imagined that the decision he would make in the Taco Bell that night would be seen around the world.

Risdon watched the two figures tensely, his body virtually vibrating with pent up energy, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice. Some of the other customers had stopped eating and turned to look at the two newcomers. The silence was thick and the air heavy with anticipation. For a moment, the only sound you could hear was the drumming of the heavy rain on the road outside. The two figures steadily approached him in the glare of the neon lights.

Desperation And Hunger

When he could finally see them clearly, Risdon noticed that the clothes they were wearing were worn thin already. Rain dripped of them in tiny puddles as they moved closer. These were details he unconsciously noticed due to his training.

His eyes scanned the larger of the two, whose hands were shoved into the pockets of the slightly oversized windbreaker that he was wearing. Risdon noticed that the figure was trembling, but he wasn’t sure why. Was he shivering from the cold? Or was it something more ominous?
