She was busy doing her monthly groceries at Publix. An older gentleman was walking through the aisles which had piqued her interest right away.

He had an endearing quality to him; he appeared confused and vulnerable, and she kept a watchful eye on him if he needed assistance with anything. He started a chat with one of the employees at one point, and she overheard everything and was concerned.

Store clerks and their work into their jobs aren’t always appreciated as much as they should be. Despite what some may believe, working as a store clerk is not as easy as it looks.

You must always be pleasant to consumers, always be eager to accommodate them with their problems, and have a great deal of patience. And it isn’t always profitable.

A Touching Story

The following story will showcase the importance and value of the work a good store clerk is. It will also illustrate what exactly could go wrong if an unfit person is given the job.

The older gentleman walked up to one of the clerks. The protagonist in the story was under the impression that he needed some assistance, however, once she heard what the pair spoke about, her eyes welled up with tears.

The Customer Is Not Always Right

Everyone is familiar with the quote, “the client is always right,” and more often than not, the quote has proven to be false. Customers sometimes behave in an entitled manner and demand that they get their way. They abuse their position and use it to manipulate store clerks.

In other words, some customers see compassion as a weakness when it comes to how they handle customer care representatives. That isn’t how it should be. Things do, however, occasionally take a drastic turn.
