The Most Strange and Expensive Abandoned Vehicles
You may have a car sitting at the end of your driveway that has been waiting for a repair for a little too long. But, some abandoned vehicles have been left to rot for decades and their owners don’t even know how much they’re worth!
Even one-of-a-kind car models like race cars and customized luxury vehicles have been forgotten by their owners from time to time. But even with a thick layer of grime, they can still hold their value.
McBarge
Unveiled at the 1986 Expo World’s Fair in the shores of Vancouver, Canada, the McBarge is a fully-functioning, floating McDonald’s restaurant. But, after the end of the festival the McBarge was kept in the water where it has now sat deteriorating for more than 30 years.
Although some people have thought up plans to renovate the ship, the only people who step foot on the boat now are the people spraying graffiti and leaving trash inside.
Batmobile
Most movie relics are kept in good condition by fans or movie studios who want to keep the memory of a great movie alive. But this Batmobile, based on the style of the ‘90s Tim Burton film has been left to rot in the woods in an undisclosed location.
The person who found it wouldn’t reveal where exactly it was, perhaps because they want to fix it up and keep it themselves.
Bagger 258
Since 2002, this piece of coal mining machinery has been unmoved. The Bagger 258, which was built in East Germany, is over 160 feet tall and 500 feet long.
The massive digger has the ability to feed coal into its own engine as it excavates to keep itself running, but after all of the coal in the area was found it was abandoned.
“Mystery Men” Battle Jitney
Another film prop that outlived its time of glory is the Herkimer Battle Jitney from the forgotten 1999 movie “Mystery Men.” The huge vehicle was only shown onscreen for about 5 minutes even though it was a pretty impressive build.
Today it can be found rotting away at a junk yard, where no one knows its epic history.
