The course of events abruptly changed. She was initially simply focusing on the microscope, then all of a sudden, she was sprinting down the hallway holding her phone. She needed to deliver the worrying news to the director as quickly as she could.

They had been cautious about the tale they told the republic for years, but it was in danger of disintegrating. All of this was made possible with a single boot print.

Loved Her Job

Lisa sighed happily as she took a sip of her first cup of coffee. It was the start of a busy day. She enjoyed her warm drink before getting dressed for her work day.

Lisa loved space, and since she was a little girl, she loved any story that had anything to do with our galaxy. She wondered about the endless possibilities that space held within its dark and mysterious realm. It came as no surprise that she kept her job longer than any of her coworkers.

New And Improved

She had a smile on her face as she sat down and leaned closer to the microscope, closing one eye as the other glances into the lens. She carefully zoomed in on a swatch of fabric.

She was relieved with their new, high-quality equipment. She could now clearly see into the weave of the spacesuit. She could even spot the dust on it. But the close-up revealed not just one new problem, but two.

Facing Problems

The first problem was that the degradation of the fabric meant that she needed another set of x-rays. She then had to run more tests if she wanted to properly document the worn section.

But the first problem was nothing compared to the second one. It was far worse and it was something she really wanted to avoid at all costs. She knew that she would rather want to experience twenty different root canals than have to face this.

Classified Information

She had passed a check by the authorities so that she could have access to tidbits of “secret” material. The interview was undoubtedly the most nerve-wracking circumstance she had ever encountered.

But even so, it wasn’t quite as bad as the impending cold sweats. She needed to request additional cash.
