Trooper Sees Dog At Side Of Road And Tries To Help Before It’s Too Late
The poor animal lay in front of him, slowly slipping away. His mind raced as he tried to think of a way to help it. Remembering his equipment, he ran to the trunk.
It was the only thing that might help now. It wasn’t a decision he took lightly but he had no other option at that moment. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he went for it, hoping it wasn’t too late.
Southern Sizzle
The heat in Tenessee had been almost unbearable that month. State Trooper Ellis confined himself to a diner, He still ad twenty minutes to go on his break and welcomed every second it gave him a respite from the scorching weather outside.
It would be back to duty after that, back to his sweltering squad car, and the uncomfortable day he’d been having. The day had been a quiet one so far but this would all soon change.
A Calling
For Ellis Merylin, being a Tennessee State Trooper was more of a calling than a profession. However, unlike the glamorized portrayals of Hollywood, it was usually a dull job. High-speed pursuits and action-packed shifts were few and far between.
Ellis was known for having a cool head and had a lot of rookie officers that looked up to him. Protecting and serving came in many forms, Merylin knew that well. However, even he could be surprised by what could be encountered on the job at times.
A Passion
Ellis loved his job and was very passionate about helping others in any way he could. he was always the first one at the station each morning. Preparing for each shift had become something of a ritual.
The jb often came with unexpected perks. For instance, when his station took part in a school donation run, providing backpacks to needy kids, Ellis was one of the first to champion the cause. However, not every day went by so blissfully.
A Scorcher
The heat had been getting worse from the week before. The weather stations had warned of a heatwave but no one had expected it to be this bad. Conditions became almost unbearable, especially when Ellis had to drive around all day on patrol.
Ellis kept a gallon of water inside his car for emergencies. In these conditions, he wondered if it was even worthwhile doing so, considering how warm it was likely to get. However, his decision to keep it would prove to be a fortuitous one.
