Waitress Gives Firefighters A Private Note, They Read It And Jump Out Of Their Chair

Waitress Liz Woodward had been working a long night shift and was already starting to wrap up one early morning when two firefighters came in to have breakfast. They, too, seemed to have come from a rough evening, judging by their exhausted looks.

Firefighters and other people of the same occupation are modern-day heroes but are often under-appreciated. They save lives for a living, though they often lead thankless lives.

So when one day she decided to give them her thanks for helping the community, she didn’t expect that it would bring forth a series of unexpected events that would change her life forever.

When she saw the two firemen walk into the empty diner at around five in the morning, she saw the exhausted look on their faces and thought they must have had a very long night.

She remembered that they ordered a huge breakfast and the largest cup of coffee they had on the menu.

As it turns out, firemen Tim Young and Paul Hullings had been up all night and up to the wee hours of the morning fighting a huge fire that broke into a warehouse. They walked in desperately needing some breakfast and caffeine.

It was 5:30 in the morning and the 130 Diner in Delran, New Jersey was empty, except for a lone waitress who was working the shift.

When she came to them holding a note in her hand, they weren’t prepared to read what it contained.

Destiny

They had been fighting a huge fire the night before and up to early in the morning and decided to drop by the nearest diner to get some coffee and food before heading home.

The latest rescue had been especially tough, but they managed to put the fire out in the end — but although victorious, they were clearly exhausted. A huge cup of coffee was what they needed to wrap up a long night.

The signage for 130 Diner became visible as they drove and they decided to park, not knowing that this would turn out to be one of the most memorable days of their lives.

Their jobs entailed facing different types of challenges, often dangerous, on a daily basis. The toll of the night prior could be seen on their faces. They were so tired, but also so hungry. The 130 Diner was empty and without any activity that morning.

It was a welcome change to the typically tense situations they get themselves in. However, what would happen next was something neither of them could have ever been prepared for.
